Before there was It, there was Killer Klowns from Outer Space. The three Chiodo brothers cover a slew of crew and leadership roles, setting out to make a horror comedy they would all enjoy. What ensued was not an initial success but is now one of the most recognized campy ‘80s cult movies, and its notoriety is well-earned. The movie has cheesy comedy, creepy clown costumes to make your cringe, resourceful practical effects, and an appropriately silly score that is all over the place. Not truly scary unless you’re a total normie and/or you have a clown phobia, Killer Klowns is pure fun and a must watch for anyone with an affinity for goofy retro horror films.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space screened as part of Telluride Horror Show 2018.
