A 666-Character Review Of ‘I Am Not A Serial Killer’

John has all the markings of a future serial killer, just not the desire. When he thinks he’s found who is behind a string of recent murders in town he decides to take them on, all while working to keep temptation at bay. It’s an interesting story, and plays out as a slow burn with a series of crescendos and close calls as it nears the end. It’s shot well, soundtracked wonderfully, and acted solidly. But for all this, something didn’t quite land. It’s likely a matter of viewer expectations. Readers of the book know where it’s headed, but the trailer promised a much more grounded story than was delivered. That’s not to say it’s bad, it’s not. But it’s not quite the psychological thriller the title would imply. It’ll hit the spot for those who want something casually morbid, but it’s not for everyone.
