Weed, boobs, and careless 20-somethings. While these are pillars of the slasher genre, by this point in time they have worn out their welcome. The F13 franchise began showcasing many societal taboos, whereas now nudity and 420-culture is played out. Jared Padalecki and Danielle Panabaker give solid performances, given what they had to work with, but Arlen Escarpeta and Aaron Yoo are pigeonholed into token comic relief even after a few lines of dialogue addressing racial stereotypes. The kills are gory, rowdy, and updated (the acquisition of the hockey mask was fun), but they are overshadowed by the fact that this could be a seasonal Halloween ad for Pornhub.
