A 666-Character Review of ‘Carrie’ (2013)

This movie follows the same story as the classic: socially awkward teen with religious zealot mother is teased by teens & ultimately unleashes the fury on her peers when her dream prom night turns into another cruel joke. Chloe Grace Moretz does a decent job with the famous title role, and though Julianne Moore’s mother character is over the top, her legit acting chops also shine through. As is true of many teen flims, the actions and cruelty of Carrie’s peers are fairly hyperbolic compared to teenage reality – but the message is still a decent one: treat others with kindness, or they might treat you with their telekinetic powers of destruction. Entertaining watch.
