A 666-Character Review of ‘An American Werewolf in London’

John Landis, the mastermind behind such cinematic greats as Blues Brothers and Animal House, hit a home run with the body-horror/comedy An American Werewolf in London. David is on a 3 month backpacking trip in England with his pal Jack, who meets his  bloody death a la wolf attack. Alone in a foreign country and left to pick up the pieces, David is constantly questioning his sanity. Well acted with glorious practical effects, the transformations of both Jack in purgatory and David during the full moon hold up over 35 years later. While not as laugh-out-loud funny as some of Landis’ other works, the film manages to amuse and repulse the viewer simultaneously.
