A 666-Character Review of ‘Ahockalypse’

Combining a zombie attack, a hockey championship, bloody violence, and laughs sounds like an ideal combination for me. A zombie outbreak takes place directly after a group of friends win a championship hockey game, and rains on their celebration.

Ahockalypse is a movie that knows exactly what it is, and never strays from it. It’s a campy, low budget, silly horror-comedy. You will know from the 5-minute mark if the tone and style is something you want to watch. There are some inside jokes and references that hockey fans will appreciate, some real goofy comedy, and some CGI blood. What appears to be a miniscule budget, limits what effects, stunts, and filming locations can be used. It looks and sounds fine, and has a pretty fun score; but comes up a little short on the performances. At a lean 80 minutes, it’s a passable, yet ultimately forgettable VOD rental; but not something I can give a full recommendation to.
